I was once at a drugstore and saw a card that I actually bought and taped above my desk. It reads, “Just when the caterpillar thought the world was over, it became a butterfly.” Can you imagine? It seems like our world is about to end, we slow down, we get paralyzed with fear, we just can’t go on any longer—and then a miracle happens. We have changed from the inside out. Our whole perspective of the world just changed. We have been transformed. It happens to the caterpillar; it can happen to us, too.
Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but be a new and different person with a fresh newness in all you do and think. Then you will learn from your own experience how his ways will really satisfy you.
Romans 12:2
The visual of the caterpillar (not very handsome) being made into the beautiful butterfly is a great picture for me. We are fighting battles every day. Sometimes, they seem so overwhelming that we become paralyzed with fear of the unknown. But, as believers in Jesus Christ, we don’t need to follow the ways of the world. The scripture says we are to be different, with a fresh newness. We will learn from our “own experience” how His ways satisfy us. We become transformed from the inside out. This happens when we allow God to walk with us throughout our day.
Lord, You know our every need. You know our hearts; give us the strength to trust in You, to truly hand out lives over to You completely, so that our transformation can continue in its fullest, so that we surrender all to You. And Lord, we thank You now for making ourselves, our children, and our friends into the most beautiful butterflies ever.
Have a beautiful day.
