Today, a lot of folks are praying for us. They may not know us, but they are praying for us. STOP! I want you to really think about that. Today—and every day—you are being lifted to the Lord by multitudes. Their voices are in unison: Lord, you are the HOLY of HOLIES; we pray that You shower Your child with blessings, that You protect Your child from calamity, and You bring Your child from darkness into the light.
That is what love is all about. What can we possibly do in return for these folks who lift us up in our time of despair? We lift them to the Lord as well. I have discovered that even those not outwardly suffering don’t live in a perfect world either. They too have financial issues, health issues, family issues, job issues, and relationship issues. So, we in turn lift them up—it only takes a moment. Can you see God’s visual of this? Those of us in need, lifting each other and allowing the other to go first, followed by the next, followed by the next—that really is Love, that really is Heaven! How humbling it is for someone to do this for us; how powerful it is for us to do this for someone else.
Prayer is powerful. In 2 Chronicles 20:1-26, the kingdom of Judea was about to be attacked by a force much mightier than their own. I encourage you to read the entire chapter—it is all about the power of prayer and being led by the Spirit of God. First, King Jehoshaphat announced the entire nation would fast (2 Chronicles 20:3); then he led the nation in prayer “for a time such as this when we face calamity” (2 Chronicles 20:6-9); the spirit moved in a man standing there who said, “Do not fear, for the battle is not ours, but God’s” (2 Chronicles 20:14-17). Then King Jehoshaphat told the people, “Believe in the Lord your God, and you shall have success, and everything will be all right!” (2 Chronicles 20:20). Victory was theirs that day—in fact, they did not even enter the battle as the opposing forces fought among themselves. That is the power of prayer.
So today, we thank the Lord for allowing us to recognize that prayer is powerful, that we give all Glory to Him, and that because of our love for them, we lift up our brothers and sisters in prayer, so that they can be showered with blessings today, that they are kept from calamity, and they are brought into the light that is provided by You, O’ Lord!
