For he was awestruck by the size of their catch, as were the others with him.
Luke 5:9Everyone present was gripped with awe and fear. And they praised God, remarking over and over again, “We have seen strange things today.”
Luke 5:26
Chapter 5 of the book of Luke is full of stories of the miracles that Jesus worked. The first was to have Simon Peter cast his nets over the other side of the boat at Jesus’ request. What did Simon Peter say? ” Sir, we worked hard all night and didn’t catch a thing. But if you say so, we will try again.” Then He healed the leper (Luke 5:12–15) and then He healed the paralyzed man (Luke 5:18–26).
As all of us share our walk with Christ, we seem to find a common experience—we have been “awestruck be an event that Christ was all over” or “we have seen strange things that were only possible by God.” Once, an unexpected but needed phone call (to generate new business) came at just the moment we began our prayer for receiving the answer to a last-ditch plea in the darkness of a closet. Hmm… we were awestruck!
Today, let’s thank God for His Almighty power and His plan to bring good to us. Let each of us give thought to a time that we were “awestruck” by His presence and give Him specific praise for that specific time and event that occurred in our lives already—that phone call, that meeting, that sermon that touched us. Now, let’s pray to our God Who knows our every need and thank Him now for the next moment when He moves in our lives, and we say, “We give you praise, Lord, for You have done strange and wonderful things today.”
Have a blessed day.
