For I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord. They are plans for good and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. In those days when you pray, I will listen. You will find me when you seek me, if you look for me in earnest.
Jeremiah 29:11–13
Read it again! What a message. He already knows the plans for us—for good and not evil; to give us a hope and a future. When we pray, He promises us He will listen. If we truly seek Him, we will find Him.
Sounds simple; actually, sounds like a miracle to me—but it is already done!
Once at a Tampa Bay Ray’s game, I saw someone holding a sign as the game was beginning that read, “Do you believe in miracles?” Well, for us Ray fans, that game was a miracle; down 7 runs in the 8th; down to our final strike in the 9th; Red Sox winning—it looked absolutely hopeless. It was hopeless. But it didn’t end that way, did it?
Today, we pray for all those we know—family, friends, acquaintances, even ourselves—who may also be in a hopeless situation. Down to the final strike! The prayer is not to remove the situation we are in, but to ask God to allow us “to see through, to get through” the situation, to allow us to feel the hope and the future of good He has in store for us. He is right there next to us, right now. Just seek Him, and He will lead us.
