The gifts have been opened; the refrigerator is stuffed with leftovers and the guests have all gone home. At least that is the way it is at our house. While we absolutely love the excitement, the quiet is nice; the peace is nice. A word comes to mind – Ahhhh! Now maybe God can communicate with us! That’s right. We have been too busy, too hectic, too Christmased up to sit quietly and listen for the Lord to direct us, to guide us, to just talk to us.
Then I heard the Lord asking, “Whom shall I send as a messenger to my people? Who will go?” And I said, “Lord, I’ll go! Send me.”
Isaiah 6:8
We need to slow down, we need to get quiet, and we need to relax to prepare for a conversation with the Lord. It can be scary, and sometimes we may not want to hear what he has to tell us, but we need to, don’t we?
So today, Lord, we thank You for the exciting times in our lives, but we pray for the quiet time so that we can prepare for our conversation with You. Grant us this golden time with You Father, and we pray that we prepare ourselves to answer as Isaiah did – “Lord, I’ll go! Send me.”
