Last of all I want to remind you that your strength must come from the Lord’s mighty power within you. Put on all of God’s armor so that you will be able to stand safe against all strategies and tricks of Satan. For we are not fighting against people made of flesh and blood, but against persons without bodies—the evil rulers of the unseen world, those mighty satanic beings and great evil princes of darkness who rule this world: and against huge numbers of wicked spirits in the spirit world. So use every piece of God’s armor to resist the enemy whenever he attacks, and when it is all over, you will be standing up. But to do this, you will need the strong belt of truth and the breastplate of God’s approval. Wear shoes that are able to speed you on as you preach the Good News of peace with God. In every battle you will need faith as your shield to stop the fiery arrows aimed at you by Satan. And you will need the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit—which is the word of God. Pray all the time. Ask God for anything in line with the Holy Spirit’s wishes. Plead with him, reminding him of your needs and keep praying earnestly for all Christians everywhere.
Ephesians 6:10–18
I wanted you to read that long passage because it’s a great reminder of how much God has prepared us, trained us, and protected us. We are living in turbulent times. No doubt about it. We are being attacked, in small ways and big ways, and it’s easy to feel vulnerable and unprotected on the battlefield. But the truth is, God has given us spiritual Armor so we never have to feel unsafe.
You can face the world prepared. Let us put on the Armor of God—the belt of truth, the breastplate of righteousness, the shoes of peace, the helmet of salvation, the shield of faith, and the sword of the Word of God. And let us pray without ceasing. The scripture says to plead with the Lord and remind Him of our needs.
Today, Lord, we pray to You on behalf of all those receiving this message and all Christians of the world, so that we may covered with Your complete armor when attacked. We continue to remind You of our needs and ask that our needs be reconciled with the wishes of the Holy Spirit—because we want Your will, Lord, not ours. We ask You to guide our steps today. We thank You for Your promise that when the battle is over, we will still be standing!
Let’s roll!
