How about a little peace today? You know, peace that everything is all right, that everything has been taken care of! That worry you had is no longer there; the weight on your chest has been lifted—that is the peace I am talking about. Feels good, doesn’t it? We can keep that feeling. It has already been given to us; we just have to accept it.
“I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart! And the peace I give isn’t fragile like the peace the world gives. So don’t be troubled or afraid.”
John 14:27
Many of us are painfully disturbed right now, distracted by our thoughts, like the tossing of waves back and forth on our problems. We find no peace, no joy, no comfort—we are in the desert, left alone. All is barren.
But we are not alone; Jesus is standing right beside us. Turn now to Him. Look at His face, look into His eyes—you see His peace, you feel His peace. Receive His peace. He wants us to have it! Read John 14:27 again—He gave us a gift. Let’s unwrap it.
Today, put in your mind the face of Jesus. Look at Him and pray: Lord, we thank You for the gift You have already given all of us: Your Peace. Allow us to accept and receive this gift so all will know that while we have struggles and problems in our lives, we carry Your peace—and that peace will give You glory.
