You know, we all break down (boy, do I know), so we yell (in a nice way) to God—we beg and plead for what we want and need, and of course, we are always thanking God for what we have. But rarely do we ever ask! Just simply straight-out ask, with all our heart and in calmness. I have asked, and I received… wow, that simple.

I had a friend once who wanted this one job and she did everything, applied everywhere… meditated… but nothing. So, I asked her, “Have you asked? Stop beating around the bush, and stop and ask calmly and from your heart.” Well, almost overnight after she asked, she got that job!

Boy, do I know that so-called “ugly crying” and what that begging is all about. Clear your head, relax, have a clear plan, and then ask in detail for what you want. If it’s in the Divine Plan, then it shall be… but if not—stop it! Because His Divine Plan for you is going to be a better one!

One evening after supper, when they were at Shiloh, Hannah went over to the Tabernacle. Eli the priest was sitting at his customary place beside the entrance. She was in deep anguish and was crying bitterly as she prayed to the Lord. Eli noticed her mouth moving as she was praying silently and, hearing no sound, thought she had been drinking. “Must you come here drunk?” he demanded. “Throw away your bottle.” “Oh, no, sir!” she replied. “I’m not drunk! But I am very sad and I was pouring out my heart to the Lord. Please don’t think that I am just some drunken bum!” “In that case,” Eli said, “cheer up! May the Lord of Israel grant you your petition, whatever it is!” “Oh, thank you, sir!” she exclaimed, and went happily back, and began to take her meals again.
1 Samuel 1:9-10, 12-18

I can’t believe the gift that God has given us, to be able to just ask. So, go on a retreat, by yourself, even if it’s two hours at the beach to reflect and clear your head, and then ask! If it’s not here for you yet, it will come once you “see” what has really happened to you… then it will come… mark my words.

So today, let’s pray that we see with the eyes of the Spirit and we hear with the ears of the Spirit. We pray for “ease” in our lives (no one ever thinks of having ease). We pray that the Lord of Israel grants us our petition, whatever it is. Amen.
