I will make my people and their homes around my hill a blessing. And there shall be showers, showers of blessing, for I will not shut off the rains but send them in their seasons. Their fruit trees and fields will yield bumper crops, and everyone will live in safety. When I have broken off their chains of slavery and delivered them from those who profiteered at their expense, they shall know I am the Lord.
Ezekiel 35:26–27
Once on the way home from a meeting, I flipped on the radio station and listened to an interview led by Dr. James Dobson of Focus on the Family. It took me a while to catch onto the topic—but it hit me hard.
The interview was strange, as the person being interviewed could not talk! This gentleman had been stricken with ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease) and was close to the end of his fight. His wife and nurse were also on the air, and they would interpret his responses to be able to answer questions from Dr. Dobson. He was a Christian who was trying to send messages of hope to those beaten down and was talking about his blessed life.
Wow. He can’t talk, can’t take care of himself, can’t do anything—except count his blessings. I complain to those who will listen to me that things are not always right or fair or just—but when I listened to the message that this guy was sending, it hit me. How blessed he is! It made me realize how blessed I am!
So today, let’s give glory to God for the blessings that He has provided us. While we do have difficulties and troubles each day, we know the battle has already been won. He sent His only Son to bring us Salvation. Doesn’t get any better than that!
Have a blessed day.
