It’s back to work we go—or back to school, or back to the job search, or back to whatever grind each of us have. The holidays are over, and the decorations are either put away or being put away. It sure would be nice to have an attitude like the seven dwarfs as they carry their tools and whistle and sing along the way to work. Go ahead and hum a few bars—when you do that, it really does pick up your spirit. A bit enchanting! Is that how you felt this morning getting up and heading out? If not, what does the Bible tell us about how we should approach the daily grind?
Work hard and cheerfully at all you do, just as though you were working for the Lord and not merely for your masters remembering that it is the Lord Christ who is going to pay you, giving you your full portion of all he owns. He is the one you are really working for.
Colossians 3:23-24
We are working for the Lord. What an amazing boss. He does not mind when we gripe; He is the first to offer congratulations on our success; and when we get down, as we sometimes do, He gives us the best pep talks. S,o as we go back to the grind, keep in mind, we’ve got a great boss!
Today, Lord, we pray that our attitudes be lifted up and that we pick up the pace—there is so much to be done. Life can wear us down, especially during the holiday break, so we pray for renewed vigor at whatever we do as we start the new year. Lord, thanks for allowing us to work for You. We are so glad to be part of Your Team.
