We’ve got some decisions to make! We are not quite sure which way to go! We are not sure if we should make the call, send the letter, take the job, pay the bill . . . Did you wake up this past weekend with your mind racing? The Lord already knew that—even before you were born. He gave us guidance for a time such as this.
If you want to know what God wants you to do, ask him, and he will gladly tell you, for he is always ready to give a bountiful supply of wisdom to all who ask him; he will not resent it. But when you ask him, be sure that you really expect him to tell you, for a doubtful mind will be as unsettled as a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind; and every decision you then make will be uncertain, as you turn first this way, and then that. If you don’t ask with faith, don’t expect the Lord to give you any solid answer.
James 1:5–6
Wisdom is the ability to make wise decisions in difficult circumstances. Whenever, we need wisdom, we can pray to God, and he will generously supply what we need. Christians don’t have to grope around in the dark, hoping to stumble upon answers. We can ask for God’s wisdom to guide our choices. But don’t have doubts about God’s promise to us. He will answer. He loves us. When our thoughts are tossed about like a raging sea, we need to stop where we are, go to our knees, and pray for the faith that we need to get through the moment.
Today, we ask God for the wisdom we need to make the key decisions, to take the right step in this journey. We also pray that we are provided with enough faith and that we have the confidence to expect the Lord to provide us that wisdom. We also thank the Lord for knowing our every need and providing His Word to guide us through our trials. He has provided us peace!
Have an expectant day.
