Have you made your list? Have you checked it twice? No, I’m not talking about your list for Santa; I’m talking about your prayer request list.
One day Jesus told his disciples a story to illustrate their need for constant prayer and to show them that they must keep praying until the answer comes. “There was a city judge,” he said, a very godless man who had great contempt for everyone. A widow of that city came to him frequently to appeal for justice against a man who had harmed her. The judge ignored her for a while, but eventually she go on his nerves. “‘I fear neither God nor Man,’ he said to himself, ‘but this woman bothers me. I’m going to see that she gets justice, for she is wearing me out with her constant coming!’” Then the Lord said, “if even an evil judge can be worn down like that, don’t you think that God will surely give justice to his people who plead with him day and night?
In the above scripture, Jesus just gave us permission to be a pain in the backside, to keep coming at him, to bug him until He says “enough already!” So, make your prayer request list, and come to Him night and day to present your needs—spiritual guidance, relationship healing, job searching, bill paying, health restoring, and decision making! I reviewed my list with Him, and now it is your turn! He already knows the list, along with the items we forgot to add, but He needs to hear from us—constantly!
So Lord, today, yesterday, and tomorrow, we praise You as our Loving Father. We continue to come to You with our requests and our needs—we have them memorized, and so do You. We await Your answer to our many prayers. Give us the perseverance to wear You down, to keep coming day and night; as You have requested us to do.
